Here’s a little rest in between the horror. There’s still some dangerous supernatural elements in the story, but it’s more of a light-comedy romance. So far I’ve been enjoying Ai Kurimi’s light-comedy romances. Most of the them are mildly smutty like “Sweet Spot”. At the time I selected this oneshot, I didn’t know it had been published in more than one shoujo horror short-story compilation. I’m never really sure whether to use the mangaka’s incorrect translation of the title of their work. This one is pretty clunky, so when I post, I’m going to use the Japanese title. But if I were to give this series an English title, I would use “A Bedtime Story for the Sleepless King”. I just found out that this series ends at chapter 4. I was hoping that it would last longer as the mystery unfolds. I hope the end isn’t rushed. “Kanojo ni Naru Hi” and “Kanojo ni Naru Hi — Another” will be releasing in Japan and on this blog on alternating months. “Kanojo ni Naru Hi — Another” comes out next week in Japan and “Kanojo ni Naru Hi” comes out in November in Japan. Both are in separate bi-monthly magazines, so that’s how it works out. This chapter feels like a turning point in the story. Miyoshi and Mamiya are back! The story picks up with them a year after Mimaya came out of her cocoon again. At this point, Miyoshi and Mamiya are college students in their early 20’s. This series is a little more mature than the original series. I look forward to seeing where the series goes.
