"Orange Chocolate" is a GO!!!

I thought from the first chapter that “Orange Chocolate” was going to be a well done, but cliched series, until I read ahead to chapters 2 and 3.  Well, folks, there’s a BIG twist that comes at the beginning of the second chapter.  From what I’ve read so far of this series, it has a good mix of humor, drama, and heart — lots of heart actually.  This is a genuine “feel good” series, with gorgeous drawings and I’m so happy to be able to bring it into English :).

I expect the first chapter be be released on Friday and I hope to get in chapter 2 before the “February Lala DX Bonanza.”  The chapters in this series are LONG at ~50-pages each.  There are 13 chapters out now, so in true Kuroneko003 style, I intend to churn the chapters out as best I can until we’re are all caught up.  This series, though, does take a while because the chapters are so long and the images require a lot of cleaning and repair.

  1. Ohhhh! *O* I'm so happy! That's really great news! 😀 I'm looking forward to it. And about the pace of your releases, don't worry, do what you can. 😉

  2. @Caroline — thanks :). This first chapter was quite a Photoshop challenge with backside bleed-through and paper rips! I'm also happy to say that there have been more job opportunities to apply to. Of course, getting a job is a top priority, so I have less time that I used to. Regardless, I like to challenge myself to go-go-go!!! Hahaha, I think that's just my personality. Though, I am cheesed at myself for at my initial failure on Ouran 78, so I will be slowing down when I translate until I feel more confident again.

  3. Of course getting a job should be your priority! If not, that would be worrying. 😀 I hope you will an interesting and well-paid job soon. By the way, what kind of job are you looking for ? I saw in your profile you're an engineer…
But I perfectly understand what you mean. I like challenges too. 8D I'm a translator for a french scanlation team and I like nothing better than finishing a chapter in a day. It feels so good! Lol. But translating is easier and less time-consuming than editing…

  4. @Caroline – As far as a job is concerned, I'd prefer another engineering job, but this time in an official lead role. I'm also open to project management, product management/technical marketing, web/graphic design, or anything that sounds interesting. Doing scanlation for a living would be cool. I'd love to be picked up as a 3rd party vendor to help bring manga into English in electronic form ;p. Hahaha, but if nothing shows up soon, I'm going to serving burgers to keep the lights on and the hard drive spinning.

As for scanlation: When I started scanlating, translating used to be the bottleneck, but now it's the editing. I've improved a lot with both, but surprisingly improving editing means putting more work into it ;p.
