We are dropping “Hana ni, Kamitsuku”

I should have checked this before starting the series, but “Hana ni, Kamitsuku” is already completely translated on Otakumole. I’m going to assume that most shoujo scan readers already read the series there, hence the lack of readership here. Given the situation, I don’t see a point in continuing the series, especially considering how time consuming the redraws are. Instead we will refocus our resources on series not already on Otakumole.

Going forward, I will check whether a series is already on Otakumole before making it a project. This most likely means that we will not be taking on series from Betsuma, Betsucomi, Friend, Lala, or Hana to Yume.

  1. hi sorry to hear your dropping it but for some of us we cant sign up on there cause disable so we can go on there to read it even for new member.

    1. Yes, I’m aware of Otakumole’s limited registration, but I think most people get around it by sharing accounts.

I think if we stick to series that Otakumole won’t have we’ll have a more unique selection of manga. I’m actually pleased this experiment failed.

  2. Please don’t always skip everything that’s there. Not everyone has access to Otakumole. I’m a fairly new reader and I really appreciate the work you do.

    1. There’s plenty of shoujo that’s not on Otakumole. We will, of course, continue to do oneshots and 2 – 4 chapters series that don’t appear on otakumole. But for the most part we can’t compete with Otakumole. There are plenty of other unconventional and more challenging shoujos that we could work on. At this point, I feel that Otakumole owns typical shoujo and I’m happy to let them have it.

As far as Otakumole membership is concerned, it’s not something I can address. You should really take that up with the person/people that run that site.

        1. Otakumole mainly focuses on middle school and high school series. As long we stay away from those, we should be fine :). Also as long as we work on series that aren’t already on Otakumole and aren’t currently running in a magazine, we should be fine. I’m not worried about finding content for CF :).

And as far as “Hana ni, Kamitsuku” is concerned, you’re not missing out on anything. It’s a typical high school vampire shoujo with a bittersweet ending. It’s not anything special. I just liked the sexual tension in the series.
