Crimson Flower is Moving on to Blogging and Live-Tweeting

Tonight there was an outcry from most of the Japanese publishers about how piracy websites are killing manga publishing. As you all know, my views on scanlation have been evolving for the past 10 years, and this was the last straw. While I love doing scanlation, my conscience overruled me tonight and doing scanlation now feels bad. I do want to continue spreading the word about series and artists I love, so I will continue on blogging detailed chapter summaries and live-Tweeting series from the magazines and books as I read them. I will resume writing reviews on Lovely Manga … Continue reading Crimson Flower is Moving on to Blogging and Live-Tweeting

We are Recruiting all Positions

Crimson Flowers is ramping up! We’re working on fall and winter oneshots and finishing up some of our delayed series.  Right now, we are working with a skeleton crew, but if we can get some cleaning, redrawing, and lettering help, we can increase the number of releases we do.  Please see the recruitment page for details! Note: If you are thinking about applying to become a translator, please keep in mind that we want people who will be able to produce scripts that don’t need extensive rewrites. Putting it another way, we need people who are fluent in American English. Continue reading We are Recruiting all Positions

Looking for a group to Take Over “Mermaid Boys” Chapter 1

4/26/2016 Update: Shoujo Sense will be picking up “Mermaid Boys” We were going to take on “Mermaid Boys”, but after starting the formal translation, I don’t think the series is right for Crimson Flower. If you are a scanlation group leader or admin and would like to complete the first chapter, we are offering the work we’ve done so far except for the translation. We will give you our dual layer PSDs with the clean layer on top and the raw on the bottom so you can do your own translation. The redraws are partially complete.  Here a sample page: … Continue reading Looking for a group to Take Over “Mermaid Boys” Chapter 1

We are Resuming “Magical Change” and “Yuurei Apaato Kanrinin”

In light of the situation with “Hana ni, Kamitsuku” will we be resuming two neglected series instead. “Magical Change” and “Yuurei Apaato Kanrinin” are returning to Crimson Flower. The next chapters in the series are already begun and we will begin releasing in March.  I will do some batch release blog posts so readers can catch up on the series. In the meanwhile, given the data I’ve collected from the oneshot releases in the last 6 months, I will re-evaluating future series and oneshots. I’m forming my thoughts about it now for a later blog post! The April oneshots will … Continue reading We are Resuming “Magical Change” and “Yuurei Apaato Kanrinin”

We are dropping “Hana ni, Kamitsuku”

I should have checked this before starting the series, but “Hana ni, Kamitsuku” is already completely translated on Otakumole. I’m going to assume that most shoujo scan readers already read the series there, hence the lack of readership here. Given the situation, I don’t see a point in continuing the series, especially considering how time consuming the redraws are. Instead we will refocus our resources on series not already on Otakumole. Going forward, I will check whether a series is already on Otakumole before making it a project. This most likely means that we will not be taking on series … Continue reading We are dropping “Hana ni, Kamitsuku”
