One-Shot: "Komugi and the Cuisine of the World Boys"

At last, we finally get this one-shot out!  We wanted to release this as our special Thanksgiving one-shot, but it got lost in the excitement of Kuro Lala and Shiro Lala.  Please forgive me Cuisine Boys!  This was a joint project with The Zero Alliance, so head over to their website if you prefer RAR files. As you can guess, this one-shot is about food and magical boys who cook food.  How could I resist?  It turned out to be a much sweeter story that I anticipated (as most stories thing do — haha).  Regardless, it was a pleasant surprise.Oh, … Continue reading One-Shot: "Komugi and the Cuisine of the World Boys"

Shiro Lala One-Shot: "Ginsekai no Shoumei" by Akiduki Sorata

Here is Akiduki Sorata’s Shiro Lala one-shot “Ginsekai no Shoumei” (“The Snowscape’s Emblem”).  The image above is a scan of one of the freebie post cards.  The large size image (click on the image to see it larger) can be used as wallpaper on your PC or mobile. A note about the spelling of “Akiduki”.  A few people have asked me about the change in the spelling.  I had been spelling it “Akidzuki” and “Akizuki” is another common spelling.  The mangaka herself began romanizing her name and the titles of her works a few months ago.  Whether right or wrong, … Continue reading Shiro Lala One-Shot: "Ginsekai no Shoumei" by Akiduki Sorata

Kuro Lala One-Shot: "Girl on a Platter" by Meca Tanaka

This one-shot is in line with “World End Garden” and “Ryuu no Moriuta“.  It’s shorter than either one-shot, but I feel that this one-shot is better than “Ryuu no Moriuta” because the main female character, Tsubame, is much more likable.  (“World End Garden remains my favorite one-shot.) I sorta wonder how the story would have been different if “Ryuu no Moriuta” has a stoic female character like Tsubame.  In terms of Meca Tanaka works, this one-shot feels very different to me.  It’s much more mature and has a little more bite in the underlying message than the other works I’ve … Continue reading Kuro Lala One-Shot: "Girl on a Platter" by Meca Tanaka

One-Shot: "Blue Rhapsodia"

It feels like it’s been forever since a release!  UGH!!  Lala DX arrived 2-days later than expected, so I spent the time waiting working on other projects.  This means we will have a bunch of releases coming in rapid succession. Anyhow…here is the latest adventure from Ogura Akane!  It’s about pirates so I’m quite pleased and had a lot of fun with the translation.  It sounds like this may be Ogura-sensei’s next series — or so I hope :).   Links to “Blue Rhapsodia”: (Zip) (PDF — mobiles and tablets) Up Next: Up next is the one-shot “The Honeybee Earl and … Continue reading One-Shot: "Blue Rhapsodia"

One-Shot: "Twelve o’Clock Bell Rings"

We had originally planned to release this one-shot a little over the week ago, but there was a duplication with Turtle Paradise so I cancelled it even though it was almost ready.  But we talked it over within the group and received some encouragement from Turtle Paradise and, as a result, I decided to go ahead and finish it and release it.  Suzume, Ichigo Stars, and I spent too much time cleaning and redrawing the images to let the work go to waste. This one-shot is more about the artist style than the story for me, although the end is … Continue reading One-Shot: "Twelve o’Clock Bell Rings"

One-Shot: "3 Hearts" by Ichinose Kaoru

I love stories with handsome rogues, mysterious women, moonlit nights, and stolen treasure.  Ah, yes, the romance of it all is the best and, in my humble opinion, this one-shot delivers.  Sigh…I would love this one-shot to be translated into a live action or animated movie.  It would be so beautiful! Don’t have many deep thoughts about this one-shots.  It’s just a confections to enjoy.  I do wonder whether calling the main character “Jin Tonic” is a little bit of call back to “King of Bandits Jing”.  In that series all the “Jing Girls” were named after mixed drinks.  I … Continue reading One-Shot: "3 Hearts" by Ichinose Kaoru
